There is a man named Steve. Right now he is making a presentation on computer science. So far he has just done a basic overview. Showing how cool technology is using demonstrations of the Macbook Air and the Iphone. He also mentioned that the industry is running out of people, the classes are half the size they were five years ago. Now he is going on about the Wii... ugh. Sure they are innovative, but at what cost? The integrity of video games. But that is for another blog. Interesting fact of the presentation so far: They had the technology for the Wii over 10 years ago, but the market wasn't there for it. The software that makes the hardware fun wasn't there.
NEW TECHNOLOGY!
Tablet PCs with pressure sensitivity. Codename: Zliding. Ability to make a 3D interface.
Blah blah blah, boring stuff about brains and MRIs.
He seems to have moved onto something new and I wasn't paying attention because I was reading things on the internets!
Alright well this presentation seems to be getting interesting.
NEW TECHNOLOGY!
Holograms! Not only static holograms, but dynamic holograms. (He explained them as holograms you can move around and holograms you can't)
He is making a big deal about controlling computers with your body and hands instead of keyboard and mouse. I like having input devices. Meh, I doubt like 80 inch computer screens will become mainstream, but you never know.
NEW TECHNOLOGY! (developed by a student)
3-D desktop with the ability to stack and organize. It looks neat.
I just signed up for the beta of the app. It looks neat, I doubt it is very practical though.
I haven't listened to Steve in a while, he seems to be talking about sports so i'm not concerned.
This is going to end up being a pretty long blog post.
He's talking about how much money people going into this field will be making and the gurentee of jobs that are available. It sounds promising. By how he's explaining it, as long as I'm good at this I am going to have a job handed to on a silver platter, where they are going to do everything they can to keep me at this job. My ego is big enough already, I don't need this to add to it. Completely off topic, I am wearing my PS2 shirt today. I normally avoid wearing it, due to the age of the PS2 and the lack of faith I have in Sony gaming systems. But it seems I should wear it more often, I have had atleast 6 people comment on it today, saying it was a sweet shirt. It's pretty comfy, so I'm happy with that.
Steve has a big picture of food on the screen and I don't really know why.
He's talking about art and animation now. It looks neat, and it's entertaining but I have no artistic ability which makes me not care. Animation and computer science shouldn't be looked at as the same thing, which to these technologically challenged people, Steve is making it sound like the same thing. Silly Steve. On the topic of Steve. Steve mentioned he has been in this field for 14 years and is now teaching at the University Of Toronto. He honestly looks about 20-25. Good job Steve.
I think I missed a lot, but he's still talking about animation. There is a picture of a cute dog on the screen. I want to hug it.
Steve's specialty is video game design, that explains his focus on animation.
Well I just learned something neat.
Byte
Kilobyte
Megabyte
Gigabyte
Terrabyte
Petabyte
Exabyte
There are a few bigger than that, but so far the biggest one we have used is Exabyte. Intense.
I don't think I want Steve to talk anymore. I'm getting quite bored.
Back to English I go.
